Fred McKinnon, Army Veteran , Comedian & Armed Services Arts Partnership Comedy Instructor
“Team Fred” is a native of Hampton, VA and a disabled military veteran now working as a government civilian for the Department of the Army.
· Fred started comedy in Feb. 2013. In his first 10 months of comedy, he won 3 “Clash of Comics” competitions at the VA Beach Funny Bone. He then partnered with various military bases to put on monthly comedy shows for the military community.
· Fred also conducts a seminar called “Humor Your Stress” that he gives to military/civilians, and it targets how to deal with stress through Faith and Humor.
· Fred is also the lead comedy bootcamp instructor for the nonprofit organization Armed Services Arts Partnership (ASAP) which offers free creative arts classes to active-duty military, dependents, and military veterans. GOAL: help get “ASAP” in every VA Hospital to help teach coping mechanisms through comedy to those struggling with addictions and PTSD.
· Performs at various comedy venues but loves performing at churches around the country.
· He has opened for nationally known great comics; a highlight of his career so far is his performance at the White House 2016 - military veteran comedy show.
· 2022- Performs monthly for the troops, DA civilians and veterans at Fort Eustis.
